This August is going to witness an epic clash between two stars who will be locking horns with each other at the box office with their respective movies. The clash is between none other than the two great stars of Bollywood Hrithik Roshan and Akshay Kumar. While Hrithik is coming up with his epic movie ‘Mohenjo Daro’ directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar, Akshay Kumar is back this year after ‘Airlift’ and ‘Housefull 3’ with a real life thriller movie ‘Rustom’. The trailers of the both the films have fared well with the audience and made it difficult for them to judge between the movies.
Mohenjo Daro is an epic film directed by a talented director who is good at doing epic films, budgeted at a high scale and starring a box office star who does few but hit films. On the other hand, Rustom is a real life thriller, budgeted at a lower scale and starring an actor whose given back to back hits this year with Airlift and Housefull 3. However, Rustom has won half of the box office battle against Mohenjo Daro with the release of its trailer. Many audience along with the box office experts have appreciated the trailer release of the film.
Mohenjo Daro Vs Rustom Box Office Collection Poll
But considering the poll between the box office collections of both the films, it is expected that Mohenjo Daro will lead Rustom in the collections. The war between the box office collections is going to be a never ending one till the movies get off screen. However Mohenjo Daro is expected to double the collections of Rustom according to some critics. Both the movies have to make collections of more than 230 crore in order to have competition. Then it would be a real clash for both the movies. The critics have given a ratio of the collections of Mohenjo daro to Rustom as 65:35, which means Mohenjo Daro will be gaining more than half of Rustoms collections.
Since this is the biggest clash of 2016, interestingly the clash is being compared to director Ashutosh Gowariker’s earlier movie ‘Lagaan’ which clashed with Gadar. Although he lost the clash, the film scored well and went on to be nominated in Oscars. So Gowarikar’s Mohenjo Daro is expected to bring the old magic of Lagan movie back. Rustom should also fare well enough to beat its rival at the box office, although it cannot be compared to Gadar. The poll results are already voting more for Rustom to be a bigger hit at the box office. This is a negative sign for Mohenjo Daro.
The budget for Mohenjo Daro is about a 100 crores and for Rustom is 40 crores. So, there is a huge risk for Mohenjo Daro in terms of budget. The movies would also score well with their music. Music for Mohenjo Daro is composed by none other than A.R.Rahman himself which is again a big gain for the movie. Music for Rustom is composed by multiple composers including Ankit Tiwari who’s given many good songs. The trailer views of the films also vary in theor number of views as Rustom leads Mohenjo Daro. This could also indicate Rustom collecting more than Mohenjo Daro at the box office. Lets wait and see who wins this year’s biggest clash at the box office with largest number of collections!
